The shop is not called Anointed Ink by accident. A large share of the work that comes through the door is faith-led, and Nestor takes that work seriously rather than treating it as one more flash sheet.

Religious pieces tend to be the ones people think about the longest before booking, and they are often the ones that carry the most weight afterwards. A Christ portrait on a shoulder, a rosary down a forearm, a verse in script that only means something to the person wearing it.

These pieces also make some of the hardest technical demands, because a face in soft gray wash and a tight line of script sitting beside each other need completely different handling.

Questions

Do I have to be religious to get one?

No. Plenty of this imagery is family tradition rather than active practice, and nobody here is going to interview you about it.

What goes wrong with religious pieces?

Usually scale. A Christ portrait in soft gray wash and tight script beside it need completely different handling, and cramming both into a small space ruins one of them.

Can you do Guadalupe or a specific saint?

Yes. Bring the version you have in mind, because the iconography varies and the details matter to the people who will recognize it.
