A memorial tattoo is the one piece nobody wants to redo. That changes how it should be designed: bigger than you think, with more space around the elements than feels necessary on the day, because fine detail and tight script are exactly what soften first.

Most memorial pieces combine a portrait, a date, and imagery that meant something to the person. Getting those three to sit together as one composition rather than three tattoos in the same place is most of the job.

Can you work from a handwritten note or signature?

Yes, and a clear flat scan or photo of the original works better than a phone picture taken at an angle.
